Best Soft Sided Basic Crates in 2026

Your puppy finally settles into a peaceful nap the moment you slide the heavy-duty bolt latch shut on this vibrant pink sanctuary. I love how this MidWest Homes for Pets crate leans into a dog's natural denning instinct, providing a secure sense of ownership for small breeds weighing up to 25 pounds. The inclusion of a divider panel is a massive win for growing pups, allowing you to adjust the living space as they mature. Setup is incredibly fast since it requires zero tools, and it folds completely flat when you need to tuck it away. Plus, the integrated roller feet are a lifesaver for hardwood floors, letting you reposition the crate without worrying about scratches or heavy lifting.

Most pet owners settle for drab, industrial-looking metal cages that clash with their home decor, but the Petmate ProValu changes the aesthetic game entirely. This crate features a stunning, rust-resistant baby pink electro-coat finish that feels more like a piece of intentional furniture than a standard kennel. It is specifically tailored for small breeds and growing puppies, utilizing an included adjustable divider panel to ensure your pet doesn't outgrow their space too quickly. Safety is clearly a priority here, with integrated Hartco clips, secure latches, and rounded corners to prevent any accidental nicks. Between the easy-to-clean slide-out pan and the foldable design for quick transport, it balances high-end style with the practical realities of puppy ownership.

Setting up a safe zone for your puppy at a crowded campsite or in a hotel room is a breeze with this Mile High Life playpen. I was particularly impressed by how the 8-panel design pops open in seconds without any frustrating assembly or tools. The 600D oxford fabric feels remarkably rugged, and the breathable mesh windows ensure your pet never feels claustrophobic while they nap. It is lightweight enough to toss into the included carrying case for travel, yet the reinforced corners provide a sturdy stance that keeps the structure stable. Whether you are using it indoors to manage a rambunctious kitten or outdoors for a rabbit, the zippered top and gate make managing your pet easy and stress-free.

Small pet owners living in tight urban spaces need the VARLNALY stackable crate to maximize their floor plan without sacrificing their animal's comfort. This pink carbon steel kennel is a standout because it transitions from a traditional cage to an open playpen mode just by removing the top door. I found the modular design incredibly clever. You can stack multiple units to create a vertical habitat for a multi-pet household. The double-door setup makes feeding a breeze, and the independent drawer tray system ensures you aren't wrestling with a heavy cage just to clean up a mess. It feels remarkably sturdy for its size, making it a reliable sanctuary for kittens, rabbits, or ferrets up to 12 lbs.
