Best Hunkydory Crafts Card Making Kits in 2026

Most children's craft kits end up as cluttered scraps on the living room floor, but the Lulu Jr. Illustory kit actually results in a permanent piece of library-quality art. This award-winning set transforms a child's doodles and scribbles into a professional, 20-page hardcover book that feels legitimately published. What sets this version apart is the 'Just Imagine..' writing guide, which provides much-needed structure for young authors struggling to bridge the gap between a vague idea and a cohesive plot. Between the included color markers, ready-to-use templates, and the delightful 'About the Author' back cover feature, it provides a complete creative ecosystem. It is rare to find a toy that offers such a tangible, high-quality end product that a child can actually showcase to friends and family.

Most creative toys end up as cluttered piles of half-finished sketches, but this kit actually delivers a finished masterpiece. The Lulu Jr. My Comic Book Making Kit turns a child's doodles into a professional, 18-page full-color comic book that looks like it came straight from a bookstore. What sets this updated version apart is the 'Comics in Action' guidebook, which provides a structured roadmap for designing characters, settings, and panel layouts so kids don't get stuck staring at a blank page. You get everything needed to start, including color markers and ready-to-use templates, plus a postage-paid envelope to send the work off for printing. Seeing your child's name featured in the 'About the Author' section on the back cover makes the entire experience feel incredibly legitimate and rewarding.
