Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about Embroidery Curtain Panels before you buy.
Embroidered panels feature raised, textured threadwork stitched directly into the fabric, providing a premium, three-dimensional feel. Printed patterns are flat and applied via ink, which is generally more budget-friendly but lacks tactile depth.
Always check the care label first. Most high-quality embroidered panels should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cold water. Avoid high heat in the dryer, as intense heat can shrink the base fabric differently than the embroidery thread, causing puckering.
While the embroidery itself doesn't block light, the density of the threadwork can add a slight layer of opacity. For true blackout performance, look for embroidered panels that feature a blackout lining on the reverse side.
High-quality panels use high-density stitching and reinforced edges to prevent fraying. To ensure longevity, avoid aggressive machine washing and opt for gentle cycles or professional cleaning.
Yes, most panels come in common styles like grommet, rod pocket, or back tab. Grommet top panels are the easiest to slide across a rod, while rod pocket styles offer a more traditional, gathered look.
Yes, embroidery adds significant weight compared to sheer or printed fabrics. Ensure your curtain rod and mounting hardware are securely anchored to support the extra load.
For a high-end look, aim for 'fullness' by choosing panels with a total width that is 2 to 2.5 times the width of your window. This ensures the embroidery isn't stretched thin when the curtains are closed.
