The Herm Sprenger Ultra-Plus Prong Dog Training Collar delivers unparalleled communication through its patented center plate construction. When you're working with a large, powerful breed, you need gear that provides clear feedback without being harsh, and this chrome collar hits that sweet spot. It mimics a gentle pinch—much like a mother dog would give her puppies—to ensure the training remains effective yet humane. I found the symmetrical prong placement particularly impressive because it creates a natural contact point that feels intuitive during obedience sessions. Plus, the ability to adjust the fit by adding or removing individual links makes it incredibly versatile for growing dogs or changing needs. It is a professional-grade tool that simplifies the walking experience for even the strongest pullers.

Walking a spirited medium-sized dog through a crowded park becomes significantly more manageable once you switch to the Herm Sprenger Ultra-Plus. I noticed immediately how the chrome-plated steel construction feels incredibly sturdy without being overly cumbersome for a dog weighing up to 77 lbs. The standout feature for me is the single swivel design, which provides much-needed flexibility between the collar and the leash, preventing that annoying tangling or tension buildup during sudden movements. With its 3.0mm wire gauge and specialized center plate assembly, this training tool offers a precise level of correction that feels professional rather than haphazard. It fits necks up to 18.5 inches comfortably, making it a reliable choice for owners focused on refined communication during training sessions.

The 16-inch length is ideal for smaller breeds, and the modular system is incredibly convenient. You can add or remove up to four links to achieve a custom, snug fit just below the ears. You can easily add or remove links with a vise to get a perfect fit for medium to large breeds. It functions as a communication tool rather than a punishment device, allowing for gentle to firm corrections.
