The Kershaw Leek with Mojave Purple Turquoise is a stunning masterclass in blending rugged utility with high-end artistry. While the Leek is already a staple in the pocket knife community, this Modern Artisans edition elevates the experience through a handcrafted handle featuring jet stone and vibrant purple turquoise. It feels less like a tool and more like a piece of heirloom jewelry that can actually handle work. The 14C28N stainless steel blade offers the toughness and edge retention you expect from a premium straight-edge, while the SpeedSafe assisted opening ensures deployment is smooth and lightning-fast every time. Since the knife and the stonework are both manufactured in the USA, you can feel the intentionality in every detail of this unique piece.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about Metal Folding Knives before you buy.
Look for a combination of high-grade steel (such as S30V or M390) for edge retention, a robust locking mechanism like a frame lock or liner lock, and smooth deployment via ball bearings or washers.
Stainless steel is better for everyday carry due to its superior corrosion resistance, while carbon steel offers easier sharpening and extreme toughness at the expense of being prone to rust.
A liner lock uses internal metal plates to secure the blade, whereas a frame lock uses the handle scale itself, generally providing a stronger, more heavy-duty locking experience.
Regularly use a sharpening stone or ceramic rod to hone the edge, and ensure you clean the pivot area periodically to prevent debris from affecting the action.
While larger knives are more capable, 'Everyday Carry' (EDC) enthusiasts typically prefer mid-sized knives that balance utility with pocket comfort and weight.
Edge retention refers to a blade's ability to stay sharp through repeated use before requiring manual sharpening.
Keep the blade dry, avoid leaving it in damp environments, and occasionally apply a thin layer of food-safe mineral oil to the steel.
Serrated edges are superior for cutting through fibrous materials like rope or cardboard, while plain edges are better for precision slicing and general tasks.
