Best Bag Games in 2026

Families looking to trade mindless screen time for high-stakes chaos need Colt Express on their tabletop immediately. This isn't your typical flat board game. Instead, you navigate a tactile, three-dimensional train that brings the Old West to life. You play as competing bandits trying to outmaneuver each other to become the wealthiest outlaw, using a clever action-programming mechanic where you lay out your moves before they actually happen. The Schemin' and Stealin' phases create a hilarious tension where your perfectly laid plans can fall apart if a rival bandit punches you or the Marshal shifts position. It strikes a rare balance between strategic depth and accessible, fast-paced fun that keeps everyone engaged for about 40 minutes.

Family game nights often suffer from a lack of depth that keeps both kids and adults engaged without feeling overly complex. Living Forest solves this by placing you in the role of a Nature Spirit tasked with protecting a sacred ecosystem. The strategy lies in how you manage your team of Guardian Animals. While combining them can optimize your actions, some animals are solitary and resist group play. I found the variety of victory paths—like planting protective trees, collecting sacred flowers, or extinguishing fires—keeps the tension high and prevents any single player from dominating. With a three-phase turn structure and highly variable mechanics, the gameplay feels fresh every time you sit down to save the forest.

After weeks of running the base game, we realized our Wild West sessions needed a sudden, unpredictable threat to keep things tense. The Belle Ghost Pack injects a chaotic new layer into the Colt Express experience by introducing a game-controlled Bandit. Instead of just competing against each other for riches, players must now contend with Ghost, a nefarious racketeer determined to snatch a suitcase of money. If Ghost holds onto that cash by the end of the journey, he takes the victory for himself. It is a brilliant way to shake up the existing mechanics of the award-winning 3D train game, adding a layer of strategic disruption that makes every round feel entirely fresh for players aged ten and up.

Standard strategy games often suffer from predictability once players master the core mechanics, which is exactly why the Belle Bandit Pack is such a vital addition to your collection. This mini-expansion breathes fresh life into the award-winning Colt Express base game by introducing a chaotic new variable: a game-controlled bandit. Instead of just competing against each other, you are now forced to navigate the schemes of Belle, a femme fatale who uses her charms to disrupt your heist. It transforms the existing 3D train experience from a pure player-versus-player race into a more dynamic struggle against a central villain. It is a quick, forty-minute injection of tension that makes your existing Wild West adventures feel dangerous and unpredictable all over again.

The sudden chaos of a battle-scarred bandit crashing your carefully laid train heist plans is what makes the Tuco Bandit Pack such a thrilling addition to your tabletop. This isn't a standalone game, so make sure you already own the Colt Express base game before diving in. This mini-expansion injects a fresh layer of unpredictability by introducing Tuco, a villain who can damage multiple players simultaneously. It shifts the dynamic from pure player competition to a frantic struggle for survival against an automated threat. If you can strategically pit Tuco against the Marshal, you'll even snag a bounty. It is a quick, high-stakes way to breathe new life into your 40-minute Wild West adventures.

Can a single character shift the entire balance of a high-stakes heist? The Cheyenne Bandit Pack breathes fresh, chaotic life into the award-winning Colt Express experience by introducing a rogue element that players can't simply outmaneuver. Instead of just competing against each other for the richest outlaw title, you are suddenly forced to contend with Cheyenne, a crafty archer who actively sabotages your plans. This mini-expansion adds a layer of strategic tension as she uses her speed to poison players and snatch away the treasure. It is a compact but impactful way to refresh your Wild West adventures without needing a massive overhaul of your existing game setup. Just remember that you absolutely need the base game to dive into this bandit-filled mayhem.

After weeks of intense strategy sessions, it is clear that this expansion turns the standard heist into a high-stakes chase. While you absolutely need the base game to play, adding the Union Pacific armored train completely changes the rhythm of your Wild West adventures. The addition of a second 3D train with rooftop Gatling guns adds a layer of tactical tension that wasn't there before. I particularly enjoyed the flexibility of the new team modes. Deciding whether to play cooperatively or trigger a sudden betrayal in the final round keeps everyone on their toes. With the new AI Bandit feature, you can even manage odd player counts without losing the game's frantic energy.
