Selecting the right sling is one of the most underrated decisions in a firearm setup. While many shooters focus heavily on optics, triggers, or barrel profiles, the sling is the primary interface between your body and your equipment. A high-quality sling provides stability during precision shots, manages weight during long treks, and, most importantly, ensures retention and safety in high-stress environments. Whether you are transitioning from recreational target shooting to tactical training or preparing for backcountry hunting, the mechanics of how a sling sits against your shoulder and waist will dictate your comfort and speed.

Your gun will feel comfortable on your shoulder due to 2.4 inch width and 0.25 inch thick soft shoulder pad. The 2 point sling will not fall from your shoulder due to anti-slip material with increased adherence. The widened shoulder pad and lightweight and wear resistant material will allow you to keep the shotgun on your shoulder for longer periods.
You can count on the strong stitching – the shell pockets will not undo under pressure. The strong elastic material will keep the shells in place even while running. The sling has no particular smell to it. The strap is reliably sewed to the shoulder pad and everything is strengthened by the strong rubber placed on top, making your tactical sling suitable for the most adverse conditions.
Keep your finger on the special holder and feel more comfortable while carrying your gun on the shoulder. Have your shells ready to load for the next game. The shotgun sling can hold up to 15 shotgun shells, for 12 and 20 gauge. If you want more, we have added to the set the 6 shell card to keep it comfortably on your hip. With this gear you won’t have any excuse to miss out any incoming birds or wild animals.
The metal swivels we added to the sling are probably the strongest on the market and offer reliable connection to your gun through a secure locking system. Easy to mount and unmount. The connection pin has 0.12 inch (3 mm) and will fit most screw studs already mounted on guns.
The hunting sling set includes great features for an amazing hunting experience: one Shotgun sling with 15 shell holders and one 6 shell pouch. We also added a specially designed package box to make the UnderAlert hunting sling a great gift for your family and friends.

A Guide to Selecting the Best Underalert Gun Slings
Material Durability and Texture
The material of your sling determines its longevity and how it interacts with your clothing. Nylon webbing is the industry standard for tactical applications because it is incredibly resistant to abrasion and easy to clean. However, look for high-denier nylon to ensure the edges don't fray under heavy use. If you prefer a more traditional or premium feel, leather slings offer a natural grip that actually improves as the material breaks in and absorbs oils from your hands. For those prioritizing weight savings, lightweight cordura or specialized synthetic blends provide a balance of strength and low profile. Pay attention to the texture. A sling that is too slick can slide off your shoulder during a shot, while one that is too abrasive can cause skin irritation during long periods of wear.
Attachment Mechanisms and Hardware
How the sling connects to your firearm is just as critical as the strap itself. Most modern setups utilize quick-adjust buckles or hardware that allows for rapid transitions between a tight fit for shooting and a loose fit for movement. If you frequently transition from a rifle to a sidearm, look for hardware that facilitates a quick release. Additionally, consider the mounting points. QD (Quick Detach) swivels are the gold standard for versatility, allowing you to swap slings between different platforms in seconds. If you are using a traditional setup, ensure the mounting hardware is made of heavy-duty steel or reinforced aluminum to prevent bending or snapping under the recoil of a larger caliber.
Adjustment Systems and Speed
A sling that cannot be adjusted on the fly is a liability. You need a system that allows you to pull the rifle tight against your body for stability, yet permits enough slack to move your arms freely. Two-point slings with a sliding adjustment mechanism are generally preferred for most shooters. Look for 'single-point' adjustment capabilities within a two-point design, which allows you to pull the weapon to your chest instantly. Avoid slings that require you to stop and manually thread webbing through a buckle to change length. Instead, opt for hardware that uses tension or spring-loaded mechanisms to facilitate rapid length changes.
Width and Weight Distribution
The width of the sling directly impacts how much pressure is applied to your neck and shoulders. A narrow sling (under 1 inch) is excellent for compact builds and low-profile carry, but it can 'bite' into your shoulder during long days in the field. A wider sling (1.5 to 2 inches) distributes the weight of the firearm across a larger surface area, significantly reducing fatigue. If you are carrying a heavy long-range rifle or a loaded carbine, prioritize width. If you are carrying a lightweight rimfire rifle for hiking, a narrower, more maneuverable sling may be the better choice.
Recommendation Logic
When making your final decision, match the sling to your primary mission. For tactical training or home defense, prioritize speed, QD compatibility, and nylon durability. For hunting and backcountry excursions, prioritize width for comfort and leather or heavy-duty synthetics for long-term wearability. Always test the hardware for smoothness. If the adjustment mechanism feels gritty or catches, it will likely fail you when you are under pressure.

Quick answers about Underalert Gun Slings before you buy.
An effective under-alert sling features low-profile hardware and minimal bulk, allowing the user to transition from a carry position to a firing position without snagging on gear or clothing.
Single-point slings are superior for rapid transitions and CQB environments, while two-point slings offer better weight distribution and stability for long-range shooting or extended patrols.
Nylon webbing is the industry standard for its balance of strength and lightness, though padded neoprene or laser-cut laminate materials provide better comfort during heavy use.
Look for slings with high-quality adjustment hardware, such as quick-adjust buckles or friction locks, which maintain tension even when the rifle is slung low.
If you are carrying your rifle for several hours at a time, padding significantly reduces neck and shoulder fatigue, though it may slightly increase the bulk of your kit.
Yes, but ensure the attachment points are compatible. Quick-release hardware is highly recommended when wearing body armor to allow for rapid removal of the weapon.
Hardware is the primary failure point. Seek out metal alloy clips or reinforced polymer buckles that can withstand sudden movements and heavy recoil.
