The dark gray botanical print adds a sophisticated, fresh touch that transforms a basic bed into a curated space without the high cost of designer bedding. A duvet-like effect without a heavy bulk. The Flysheep Floral Patchwork Quilt Set features a green floral plaid patchwork design that's more cozy and modern than dated. The microfiber polyester fabric feels more luxurious than the price would lead you to believe. I used this as a light coverlet in the summer months. Then added an additional comforter underneath when it got cooler. The quilting stitching held up well after multiple washings in cold water. No loose threads or movement of the filling. The 90x90 square size fits a queen size bed with a bit of a moderate drop. Order a larger size if you want a longer, draping effect. The set includes 2 20x26 shams with a matching pattern. A great way to give a guest room or kids bedroom a new look. It's also great for brushing off pet hair.
A Guide to Selecting the Best flysheep kids bedspread coverlet sets
Prioritizing Fabric Composition and Breathability
The most important factor in any child's bedding is the material. Children often have higher metabolic rates and can overheat during sleep, making breathability a non-negotiable requirement. Look for sets crafted from high-quality cotton or cotton blends. Cotton is naturally hypoallergenic and allows for excellent airflow, which helps regulate temperature throughout the night. If you are opting for synthetic blends, ensure they are specifically engineered to be soft to the touch. Avoid overly stiff polyesters that can trap heat and cause discomfort. A coverlet that feels velvety or brushed is often more inviting for children who are sensitive to textures.
Evaluating Durability and Washability
Let’s be realistic: kids' bedding is subject to heavy use. Between snack crumbs, juice spills, and general wear and tear, your coverlet set needs to be resilient. When reviewing sets, pay close attention to the stitching quality around the edges and the seams. Reinforced stitching prevents fraying, which is common in cheaper sets after multiple wash cycles. Furthermore, check the care instructions. The best sets for a busy household are those that can be tossed into a standard machine wash without losing their shape, color vibrancy, or softness. Avoid overly delicate embellishments like heavy sequins or fragile lace if you want a set that remains functional for more than a few months.
Design, Theme, and Longevity
While it is tempting to buy the most elaborate character-themed set available, consider the 'growth factor.' A child's interests change rapidly. A set featuring a highly specific cartoon character might be beloved today but obsolete in six months. To get better value for your investment, look for flysheep sets that utilize sophisticated patterns—such as celestial motifs, botanical prints, or geometric shapes—that feel 'fun' for a child but are stylish enough to transition with them into their pre-teen years. Color palette is also key. Soft pastels or muted earth tones tend to be more versatile for room redecorating than neon shades.
Sizing and Layering Potential
A coverlet is typically a lighter weight than a heavy comforter, making it an ideal layering piece. When selecting a set, ensure the dimensions are appropriate for the bed size (Twin, Full, or Queen) to ensure adequate overhang on the sides. A well-sized coverlet provides a polished, tucked-in look that makes the bed appear neat even when it isn't perfectly made. Because coverlets are thinner, they are perfect for spring and summer months, or as an extra decorative layer atop a thicker duvet during the winter. Always check the set inclusions to ensure you are getting both the coverlet and the matching shams or decorative pillows promised in the description.
