A duvet-like effect without a heavy bulk. The Flysheep Floral Patchwork Quilt Set features a green floral plaid patchwork design that's more cozy and modern than dated. The microfiber polyester fabric feels more luxurious than the price would lead you to believe. I used this as a light coverlet in the summer months. Then added an additional comforter underneath when it got cooler. The quilting stitching held up well after multiple washings in cold water. No loose threads or movement of the filling. The 90x90 square size fits a queen size bed with a bit of a moderate drop. Order a larger size if you want a longer, draping effect. The set includes 2 20x26 shams with a matching pattern. A great way to give a guest room or kids bedroom a new look. It's also great for brushing off pet hair.
A Guide to Selecting the Best flysheep kids quilt sets
Prioritize Fabric Composition and Breathability
When selecting a quilt set for a growing child, the material is the most critical factor. Most high-quality sets utilize cotton or cotton blends because of their natural breathability and moisture-wicking properties. Children often struggle with temperature regulation during sleep, making a breathable fabric essential to prevent overheating. Look for long-staple cotton if possible, as it resists pilling and maintains a soft hand-feel even after dozens of trips through the washing machine. Avoid overly synthetic materials that may trap heat or feel 'scratchy' against sensitive skin, as comfort is the primary driver of a restful night's sleep.
Evaluate Pattern Durability and Visual Longevity
Flysheep is known for its vibrant, character-driven designs, ranging from celestial themes to woodland creatures. While it is tempting to choose the most trend-heavy pattern, consider the 'visual longevity' of the set. A pattern that is too niche might feel dated within six months as your child's interests shift. Instead, look for sets where the print is integrated into the stitching or uses high-quality dyes that won't fade after the first few washes. A well-constructed quilt uses decorative stitching (quilting patterns) to hold the batting in place, which also adds a layer of texture and prevents the internal filling from shifting or bunching up into uncomfortable lumps.
Consider the 'Set' Value and Layering Potential
A true quilt set should provide a cohesive look with minimal effort. Pay close attention to what is included in the package. Some sets offer only the quilt, while premium sets include matching pillow shams or decorative accent pillows. If you are shopping for a toddler bed, ensure the dimensions are scaled appropriately to avoid excess fabric pooling on the floor, which can become a tripping hazard. For older children, look for sets that can easily be layered with a heavier duvet in the winter or a simple sheet in the summer. The versatility of the weight is a key decision factor for parents who want to maximize the life of their purchase across different seasons.
Maintenance and Ease of Care
Let's be realistic: kids' bedding is subject to spills, crumbs, and frequent washing. A quilt set that requires dry cleaning or delicate hand-washing is a logistical nightmare for busy households. The best sets for children are machine-washable and dryer-safe. Before finalizing your purchase, check the care instructions to ensure the fabric can handle regular agitation. High-quality quilting ensures that the decorative stitching remains intact even under the stress of a heavy-duty wash cycle, preventing the 'lumpy quilt' syndrome that often plagues cheaper alternatives.

Quick answers about Flysheep Kids Quilt Sets before you buy.
Look for breathable, natural fibers like 100% cotton. This ensures the quilt is soft against sensitive skin and helps regulate temperature during sleep.
Most high-quality quilt sets are machine washable. Use a gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent, then tumble dry on low to prevent shrinking or fabric damage.
Yes, lightweight quilted sets are ideal for layering. They provide enough warmth for spring and autumn, and can be paired with a heavier blanket during winter months.
Standard twin sizes are most common for kids' rooms, but always check the specific dimensions of the set to ensure the quilt provides adequate overhang for the mattress.
Check for reinforced stitching around the edges and a high thread count. Tight, consistent quilting patterns prevent the internal batting from shifting or bunching after washing.
Most complete quilt sets include matching pillow shams or pillowcases, but always verify the 'set includes' description to ensure you are getting a full bedding solution.
Absolutely. Because many kids' quilt sets feature vibrant patterns and textures, they work perfectly as decorative accents on beds, couches, or reading nooks.
