Best Higogogo Tatami Mats in 2026

Most people assume a floor mattress will feel like sleeping on a hardwood floor, but this HIGOGOGO futon actually challenges that skepticism with its upgraded memory foam core. I was impressed by the 4.7-inch thickness, which provides enough cushion to prevent that dreaded bottoming-out sensation. The construction is smart. It uses reinforced edge borders with cord-like seams to stop the sides from collapsing when you roll over. The breathable microfiber cover feels soft against the skin, while the square pattern quilting adds a layer of structured comfort. It is incredibly versatile for a guest room or even a camping setup, though you do need to be patient. Since it arrives compressed, you'll need to give it a few days to fully recover its shape after unboxing.

Small apartments and cramped living quarters often force a compromise between floor space and a comfortable place to sleep. This HIGOGOGO Japanese floor futon solves that dilemma by offering a sophisticated five-layer construction that refuses to sacrifice spinal support for softness.
