The body of this ukulele is made of laminate mahogany, which is a hardwood used to make quality musical instruments for centuries. Its colour can vary a fair amount, from a pale pinkish brown to a darker reddish brown, and it tends to darken with age.

Mahogany wood is known for its silky warm tone, which is why Elise decided to go with it, and we feel that it matches her personality really well. Elise also sent us hand-drawn designs of the rosette, which we converted into this lovely laser engraving.

Elise wanted to use diamond-shaped markers for the fretboard inlays, adding a classy touch to her creation. The neck and fingerboard of this ukulele are made from African okoume and blackwood.

The TUC-50 uses laminate walnut for the sound board and matching headstock. Walnut is a fascinating heartwood, preferred by luthiers for both its malleability and beauty. Walnut is stiffer and denser than Mahogany, so its tone is brighter, as bright as Koa. However, open grains allow for a more present midrange that splits the difference between Rosewood and Mahogany. This uke features a hand-drawn Salamander design.

The TUC-55 MANGO uses laminate mango for the sound board and matching headstock.  Mango is a great looking wood that sounds as good as it looks.

We generally offer our travel series ukuleles with cool colors or stunning graphic designs–but the Flight TUS55 Mango Soprano Travel Ukulele offers a nod to classical ukulele design through the use of laminate mango.  Mango provides a bright clear tone, and the light and dark grain of the Mango will have you staring at it as much as you play it.

The TUS35 uses laminate linden wood for the sound board. Linden is characterized by a bright sound and sleek texture. It also absorbs color in a very interesting way that creates very cool patterns.

Our travel ukuleles use a zero fret and adjustable saddle, which keeps the string action low and intonation on point. Since a plastic will not react to weather conditions like a wood ukulele, you will should never have to deal with any future saddle adjustments.

string-through bridge is one of the latest ukulele trends. it makes the top resonate better, due to strings being attached directly through the top soundboard, and not to the bridge. changing the strings might seem a bit confusing at first, but actually it is easier. d'addario strings have recently been rising in popularity and after lots of tests flight decided to feature them on the royal series.
