Best Kelly Mouthpieces in 2026

The Kelly Mouthpieces Screamer Lead Trumpet Mouthpiece is a game-changer for budget-conscious brass players looking to experiment with different setups. While most musicians stick to heavy brass, this Lexan construction offers a surprisingly soft, warm, and comfortable feel against the lips. You might expect a plastic alternative to compromise your tone, but computerized oscilloscope testing proves there is no measurable difference in sound production compared to traditional options. It delivers a sonorous, high-quality characteristic that holds its own in any ensemble. Plus, the jet black finish looks sharp, and the affordable price point makes it easy to swap cup sizes or colors without breaking the bank. It is a smart, versatile choice for anyone wanting to find their perfect fit.

Most brass players assume that switching from metal to polymer means sacrificing tonal integrity, but this Lexan mouthpiece challenges that entire assumption. While testing the Screamer Lead Trumpet model in Crystal Purple, the most striking realization wasn't just the vibrant aesthetic, but how the material feels against the lips. It offers a softer, warmer, and more comfortable sensation than traditional brass counterparts. Despite the unconventional material, computerized oscilloscope testing confirms there is no measurable difference in sound production, providing a sonorous characteristic that holds its own in a professional setting. Because these are priced at roughly half the cost of standard brass options, it is an incredibly low-risk way to experiment with different cup sizes or express your personality through unique colors without breaking the bank.

Finding the perfect mouthpiece size usually requires a massive financial commitment, but this Kellyberg Crystal Blue option removes that barrier entirely. By utilizing Lexan instead of traditional brass, Kelly Mouthpieces has created a tool that feels noticeably softer and warmer against your lips during long rehearsals. I was skeptical about the acoustic performance, but computerized oscilloscope testing confirms that the sound production is just as sonorous and characteristic as metal alternatives. The most striking part is the aesthetic. The vibrant blue color makes it stand out in a sea of silver and gold. At roughly half the cost of a standard brass mouthpiece, it is a brilliant way to experiment with different cup sizes without breaking your budget.

Why should professional-grade sound quality be locked behind the high price tag of traditional brass? Why should extreme weather dictate how your instrument performs during a high-stakes performance? The Kelly 6-1/2AL Lexan mouthpiece solves the temperature-sensitivity issue that plagues traditional metal mouthpieces. Because it is crafted from high-quality Lexan polycarbonate, it remains comfortable and consistent whether you are playing under a blistering sun at a pep band game or in the biting chill of an outdoor marching band competition.
