Best Metolius in 2026

Most climbers assume that gear symmetry is just a byproduct of good manufacturing, but Metolius actually treats it as a precision engineering requirement. These Rock Rings utilize CAD/CAM master technology to ensure perfect symmetry, which is a level of detail you don't always see in standard climbing accessories. The Blue Swirl aesthetic is striking, making them easy to spot in a cluttered gear bag, but the real value lies in that mathematical precision. While they are a specialized piece of equipment, the design suggests a focus on reliability and consistent performance during technical outdoor sessions. At just under fifty dollars, they offer a professional-grade touch to your kit that feels intentional rather than accidental.

Climbers who prioritize joint longevity and ergonomic precision need the Metolius Rock Rings in their gear bag immediately. These aren't just standard rings. The independent units allow for free rotation of the joints, which is a massive win for reducing injury during intense movement. I was particularly impressed by the fine-grained texture that stays skin-friendly even during long sessions. Because they are designed using a CAD/CAM master, the symmetry is absolutely perfect, giving you a reliable feel every time you use them. Weighing in at 1.9 kg for the set of two, they feel substantial and well-engineered without being overly bulky. The black and white swirl aesthetic adds a nice touch of style to your outdoor setup, but the real value lies in that precision-engineered movement.

The Metolius Simulator 3D Training Board delivers surgical precision through its CAD/CAM engineered design. While many training tools feel haphazardly shaped, this board utilizes advanced computer-aided manufacturing to ensure perfect symmetry, which is vital for consistent finger strength training. The fine-grained texture is a massive win for climbers because it provides enough friction to make the holds effective without being so abrasive that it shreds your skin during long sessions. At roughly 28 inches long, it offers a substantial surface area for various movement patterns. Whether you are looking to refine your technique or build raw power, the balance of skin-friendly ergonomics and mathematical accuracy makes this a standout piece of home training gear.

Your finger strength often hits a plateau right when you need it most, making a dedicated home setup essential for breaking through. The Metolius Project Training Board CNC solves this by providing a precision-engineered surface designed specifically for high-intensity finger conditioning. Because it is crafted using CAD/CAM technology, the holds offer perfect symmetry, ensuring your training sessions are balanced and predictable rather than relying on uneven, hand-cut edges. The striking black and white swirl finish looks great in any home gym, but the real value lies in the complete package. You get a training guide, comprehensive instructions, and all the necessary mounting hardware to get your sessions started immediately. It is a professional-grade tool that brings gym-quality precision directly to your wall.

Serious climbers who punish their hands against abrasive granite need the heavy-duty protection offered by these Metolius 3/4 gloves. I was immediately impressed by the sheer durability of the cowhide main body, which feels substantial without being overly bulky. The real standout is the triple-stitched, split cowhide palm reinforcement. It is specifically designed to handle the high-friction zones where most gloves fail first. Metolius didn't stop at the palms either, opting for double-stitched finger openings and reinforcing every high-wear area to ensure longevity. I also found the bar-tacked webbing clip-in loop incredibly practical for keeping gear organized while on the wall. At a sub- price point, these feel like a rugged, no-nonsense essential for any climbing rack.

The tactile weight of the 11 mm Monster Sling Webbing immediately tells you this isn't some flimsy piece of cordage. Metolius has managed to shave off over 40% of the weight compared to their original design, making this Alpine PAS an absolute dream for fast-and-light ascents where every gram counts. It functions as a highly adjustable, safe alternative to traditional slings or quick draws, fitting compactly into your kit without the bulk. Most importantly, it solves a major safety headache by eliminating the risk of pocket failure that often plagues standard daisy chains. At 36.5 inches long with a 14 kN strength rating, it provides a reliable, streamlined way to secure yourself during technical climbs.

Most climbers settle for flimsy, standard slings that lack the structural integrity required for complex multi-point setups, but the Metolius Equalizer Anchor Sling changes the math on safety. After testing the 15ft version, the first thing you notice is the sheer heft of the 16 mm Monster webbing. It feels incredibly robust in your hands, which is vital when you're building an anchor. The reinforced end-loops are a standout feature, providing full-strength clip-in points that don't compromise under tension. Whether you are configuring a two-point or three-point anchor, the 22kn strength rating offers serious peace of mind. While you'll need to bring your own carabiners to the crag, the specialized pocket design and heavy-duty construction make this a cornerstone piece of gear for any serious climbing kit.

Most climbers assume that more rigid training tools lead to better strength, but the Metolius Wood Rock Ring proves that flexibility is actually the secret to longevity. I was surprised by how much the independent suspension system matters during intense sessions. By allowing the joints to rotate freely, it significantly reduces the jarring impact that often leads to injury. It feels incredibly light in your pack at just 0.45 kg, yet it is substantial enough to handle serious training. The graduated edge depths—ranging from 15 mm up to 38 mm—provide a versatile progression for your grip strength. Whether you are hanging them in a home gym or at a training site, these rings are remarkably easy to deploy anywhere.

I particularly value the inclusion of the 'How to Build a Home Bouldering Wall' booklet, which turns a daunting DIY project into a manageable weekend task. Whether you are starting from scratch or expanding an existing setup, having this much hardware ready to go makes the installation process significantly smoother and more professional.

Most climbers settle for bulky, fixed hangboards when they could be refining their precision with a dedicated edge trainer like the Metolius Light Rail. This compact board is designed specifically for body weight training, offering a slim profile that fits easily into a home gym setup. I found the varying edge depths—ranging from 13 mm to 38 mm—to be the real standout here, allowing you to graduate your finger strength training as you progress. It is incredibly lightweight at just 1.2 lbs, yet it feels sturdy once you mount it using the four included screws. Whether you are working on micro-edges or larger crimps, this 18-inch rail provides the specific stimulus needed to level up your technical climbing ability without taking up massive amounts of wall space.

Climbers often struggle with the skin-shredding intensity of plastic holds during intensive home training sessions. The Metolius Wood Grips Deluxe II addresses this exact issue by providing a more natural, skin-friendly surface for your finger strength workouts. At 28.25 inches long, these wooden rails offer a substantial training area that fits perfectly on a standard home climbing wall. I found that the wood texture offers a much more forgiving grip than traditional resin, allowing for longer, more productive sessions without the immediate fear of tendon strain or skin tears. It is a specialized piece of equipment designed specifically to turn a garage or basement setup into a professional-grade training environment.

The Metolius Speedster Rope Bag transforms the traditional rope bag into a highly mobile, pack-style system that actually stays on your back. Instead of lugging a heavy, awkward sack, you can wear this 40L bag using its innovative two-strap design, making the trek to the crag much more manageable. The center zipper is a game-changer for quick access to your gear, and the interior is surprisingly cavernous. It easily swallows a 70m rope while still leaving plenty of room for your harness, shoes, draws, and chalk bag. I particularly like the massive 52" x 58" integrated tarp, which keeps your rope clean from dirt and grit. Toss your keys or wallet in the small zippered pocket, and you have a complete, streamlined climbing kit.

Building a high-performance home training board often fails when the holds feel like generic, uncomfortable blocks that punish your skin. These Metolius Campus Rungs solve that problem through custom tooling that prioritizes ergonomic shapes for better contact. I love that each 16-inch rung features a distinct incut side and a flat side, giving you much-needed variety during intense training sessions. Because they are individually hand-sanded and pre-drilled, the setup process is surprisingly smooth, especially since they fit perfectly on standard 4 ft. or 8 ft. panels. The kit even includes all the mounting hardware and a construction guide, making it a complete solution for anyone looking to upgrade their finger strength without the guesswork.

Building a backyard bouldering setup usually involves a frantic search for compatible hardware, but Metolius has effectively eliminated that headache here. This 40-pack isn't just a pile of polyurethane holds. It is a complete installation ecosystem. I was struck by how much utility is tucked into the box, as it includes everything from bolts and t-nuts to self-drilling screws and even a dedicated multi-wrench. The inclusion of a specialized booklet on how to construct a home bouldering wall is a massive win for DIY enthusiasts who want to avoid structural mistakes. Instead of sourcing parts separately, you get a cohesive kit that makes transforming a garage or shed into a training space feel remarkably straightforward and professional.

Because each block features both an incut side and a flat side, you have the flexibility to switch up your training angles easily. They arrive pre-drilled with all the mounting hardware included, making the screw-on installation incredibly straightforward for any DIY climbing setup.

Why settle for limited climbing routes when your home wall geometry feels restrictive? These Metolius PU screw-on footholds are the ultimate solution for those tricky spots where traditional bolt-on hardware simply won't fit. Because they are designed as low-profile, technical micro-holds, they allow you to expand your training setup onto wooden surfaces using self-drilling screws. I love how much versatility they add to a home gym, turning awkward corners into usable climbing terrain. The kit is remarkably complete, arriving with the necessary 3/8" socket-head cap screws, bolts, and t-nuts already included. It is a specialized tool for climbers who want to push the boundaries of their custom setups without the bulk of standard hardware.

Climbers who demand zero distractions during a crux need the Metolius Competition Chalkbag to keep their hands dry and their gear organized. With eight different solid color styles to pick from, you can actually find something that fits your personal aesthetic without sacrificing functionality. It is a straightforward, no-nonsense piece of kit that handles the rigors of the crag perfectly for such an accessible price point.

This ensures they seat firmly in place for maximum holding power rather than just sitting on top of the grain. The set includes sizes 6 through 10, providing a solid mid-range foundation for your protection. I also found the color-coding incredibly helpful when you are pumped and need to identify your gear by touch or quick glance in dim light.
