The intricate, swirling wood grains of the paulownia soundboard immediately command your attention when you unbox this Mishimaya masterpiece. This isn't a decorative piece. It is a professional-grade instrument built for serious musicians who demand resonance and depth. By carving hand-carved sound grooves directly into the underside of the soundboard, the makers have achieved a level of acoustic projection that truly honors traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Crafted from century-old reclaimed fir beams, this seven-string zither carries a historical depth that is felt in every note. The luthiers use traditional deer antler and lacquer tree sap finishes to ensure a professional timbre, and I was impressed that each unit undergoes four separate tuning tests before shipping. The resonance of a perfectly tuned drone fills a practice room the moment you pluck the four metal strings of this Banjira Tenor Tanpura.
