Best Wantalis in 2026

Every backcountry enthusiast or après-ski wanderer needs the Wantalis Skiback to escape the awkwardness of traditional ski carrying. This patented gear transforms your skis into a comfortable, backpack-style load in just ten seconds by simply sliding them into the adjustable loops. I was particularly impressed by the clever 30° inclination, which prevents the ski tips from banging against your head or lower back while you move. Because the straps are fully adjustable, you can customize the weight distribution to your specific build. When you finally reach the lodge, the carrier folds down small enough to tuck right into your jacket pocket, making it an incredibly low-profile solution for anyone tired of lopsided gear.

After weeks of use, the most noticeable difference in my garage is how much more organized my winter gear actually looks. The Gravity Grabber solves the biggest headache with traditional racks by using a gravity-locking design that hits precise contact points, which means I don't have to worry about crushing the rocker or tips of my expensive boards. The quick swivel arms make grabbing my kit for an early morning powder run incredibly fast—you just pop, drop, and lock. I also love that it isn't just a seasonal item. The integrated hooks work for my ski poles, and I've even used it to hang garden tools during the summer. It feels sturdy, secure, and keeps everything from sliding around thanks to those anti-slip rubber pads.

You are standing in your garage at 5:00 AM, eyes half-closed, frantically hunting for your poles and gloves while the powder waits outside. The Gravity Grabber eliminates that pre-dawn chaos by consolidating your entire kit into one organized station. Unlike traditional racks that crush your gear, this system uses a gravity-locking design with precise contact points to protect your rocker, tips, and tails. The quick-swivel arms make stowing and retrieving your boards effortless, while the integrated pole hangers ensure you aren't searching for accessories mid-transition. I love how the interlocking corners allow you to expand your setup as your quiver grows, and even in the off-season, those heavy-duty hooks are perfect for hanging garden tools or shovels.

Those oversized, all-weather rubber saddles do a fantastic job of preventing the annoying friction damage you often see with cheaper mounts. The aviation-grade aluminum construction feels incredibly sturdy and rust-resistant, which is a massive win for anyone frequently hauling gear through salt air or heavy rain. What sets this apart is the clever folding mechanism. You can use the front release handle to quickly fold the bars down when you're parked, saving precious overhead clearance. Plus, the ability to reconfigure the setup to carry multiple boards or kayaks makes it a versatile powerhouse for any adventure.

The soft texture of the integrated EVA foam is the first thing you notice when you stop the constant, annoying clatter of skis knocking together. These Fat Cookie Outdoors straps transform the awkward trek from the car to the lodge into a much more manageable experience. I found the hook and loop grip to be incredibly secure, even when dealing with wider powder skis that usually defeat standard straps. Because they lack hard plastic or metal components, they don't dig into your body if you take a tumble on the slopes. They are small enough to disappear into a jacket pocket once you're geared up, making them a seamless addition to your winter kit without adding bulk or weight.

Most winter gear setups force you to choose between capacity and aerodynamics, but the YAKIMA FatCat 4 EVO refuses to compromise on either. I found that the DoubleJoint hinge is a total game-changer for anyone rocking wider powder skis or thick snowboards, as it expands effortlessly to accommodate gear that usually feels too bulky for standard mounts. The sleek profile actually delivers a noticeably quiet ride on the highway, which is a massive relief during long mountain treks. It’s a premium, tool-free solution that makes loading up for a powder day feel seamless rather than a chore.

The Thule Universal Ski and Snowboard Rack is a premium automotive accessory that offers unmatched versatility for winter sports enthusiasts. After testing its compatibility, the standout feature is how seamlessly it integrates with Thule, Yakima, and most factory roof systems right out of the box. You can load up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards, and I found the ability to carry snowboards base-to-base incredibly helpful for maximizing space on crowded trips. Security isn't an afterthought here either, as the included One Key System provides two dedicated lock cylinders to keep your expensive gear safe while parked. It is a rugged, reliable solution for anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle's hauling capabilities for the snowy season.

Most people assume a rooftop carrier is just a glorified metal clamp, but the Thule SnowPack actually functions as a precision piece of gear that protects your equipment from the elements. During testing, the vertical spring system proved essential, easily accommodating thicker boards without the struggle you'd expect from standard racks. I found the ultra-soft rubber arms to be a lifesaver for preventing those dreaded scratches on expensive top sheets. The design is incredibly thoughtful for winter conditions. The oversized push buttons are easy to operate even when you're wearing heavy gloves, and the extension feet provide much-needed clearance for tall bindings. It’s a secure, aerodynamic solution that makes loading up for a powder day feel much less like a chore.
