[WHAT IS WAX RESIST?] - Wax resist creates a barrier between the clay and ceramic glaze. Wax naturally repels water and seals over the ceramic clay to keep glaze out. Our wax is made in the USA and has excellent quick drying properties with just the right viscosity so it brushes evenly and smoothly.
[HOW TO USE IT] - The most common use is to paint the bottoms of pots and plates before applying pottery glazes (a glazed bottom will likely likely stick to the kiln furniture when firing). Another awesome application is to paint designs on your pieces to create negative space and show off the unglazed clay. Wax resist will also slow down drying of your pottery clay.
[FIRING WAX RESIST IN A POTTERY KILN] - Don't worry about applying as much wax resist as you need to your ceramic clay. Wax will burn off at low temperature during the bisque firing process, revealing designs, base colors, or just unglazed clay underneath. That's why wax for pottery is such a fun and awesome tool in your pottery supplies toolkit!
[HOW TO CLEAN WAX] - Cleaning wax resist is super easy to clean because we use water soluble wax resist. Dip your brush in soapy water or fabric softener before using wax resist, and the brush will be easier to clean. When you're done, make sure to rinse your brush in warm soapy water. The wax is water soluble so it'll come right off.

Our glazes made in the USA by expert potters. They are lead-free, non-toxic and food safe (when properly fired and tested). Our mid fire glazes offer similar color ranges to our low fire glazes, but also introduce interesting effects and tonality not available in low fire glazes when fired in a pottery kiln at cone 5 or cone 6. Sometimes glaze contents will settle. That's normal! Ceramic glazes need to be fully mixed to ensure smooth application. We recommend mixing for at least 1-2 minutes.
Pottery glaze must be fired in a pottery kiln at the correct temperature. Do not fired in a kitchen oven. Your ceramic kiln must be temperature calibrated to confirm it is firing at the target temperature / cone. Ceramic glazes are classified according to a temperature range ("cone") in three general groups: "low-fire," "mid-fire," and "high-fire." Over-firing will damage the piece and possibly the kiln. Under-firing will give you ugly results that will not look like the swatch image.
Glazes will react differently (and look different) depending on several factors, including: (a) the temperature at which they're fired: even small changes in temperature can lead to different outcomes; (b) the clay body on which the glaze is applied: the same glaze will look different if applied to a darker vs. lighter clay; (c) the speed at which your kiln reaches the target temperature; and (d) how much oxygen is in the kiln's atmosphere while firing. Test before applying.
You can apply glazes either by (a) dipping your bisqued piece into the glaze or (b) brushing it on. Our glazes are ready to apply with a brush. If you're looking to dip, we recommend applying a dispersing agent like Darvan.
[LIFETIME WARRANTY] - All Penguin Pottery products are backed by our Lifetime Warranty. if you have any issues, we will give you a refund or replace your product - no questions asked! See warranty & support section for more information.

Penguin Pottery Gum Solution slows down glaze drying time and prevents cracking.
Apply to glazes to improve their brushability and achieve a more even application.
You can also apply our Gum Solution to dried up glazes by diluting them with water first, then adding our Gum Solution (as needed) to improve their brushability.
Spraying diluted gum solution over underglaze crayons (prior to glazing) will also prevent the underglaze from smearing while the glaze is applied on top.
Gum Solution is non-toxic. Do not ingest or use in food preparation. Can be thinned with water to achieve desired viscosity.
The color of our Gum Solution will NOT affect the color of your glazes - it is designed to burn off when firing.

[EXCLUSIVELY BY PENGUIN POTTERY!] - After many months of research, Penguin Pottery is introducing the first Glow in the Dark glaze for ceramics and pottery! We are so excited to bring you this amazing new ceramic glaze line and can't wait to see what you create! Check out the video we made, you're going to love it! Get everyone's attention making original decorations for special occasions. Great Christmas gift and original birthday gift.
[EASY TO USE] - You can paint our glow in the dark glaze onto greenware, bisqueware or already-glazed finished work . This glaze should be fired to a fast cone 06. Any hotter and the glaze may lose its glow. Contents may settle at the bottom of the jar. Stir with every dip of your brush. The glow glaze doesn’t have a glossy smooth finish and that’s normal. For a glossy finish, cover it with our low fire clear glaze formulated (sold separately) and fire them together at cone 06.
[FIRE IN POTTERY KILN] - Pottery glaze must be fired in a pottery kiln. Do not fired in a kitchen oven. Ceramic glazes are classified according to a temperature range ("cone") in three general groups: "low-fire," "mid-fire," and "high-fire." Your ceramic kiln must be temperature calibrated to confirm it is firing at the target temperature / cone. Our glow glaze is nontoxic but has not been tested for food safety. We don’t recommend painting this glaze on surfaces that will have food on them.
[GET IT GLOWING!] - After you fire your ceramic, expose it to UV light, daylight, ultraviolet light, etc. The fired glaze stores the light energy and then slowly releases over time. At night or in a dark room, you will see the luminescence. Tip: the longer you expose the fired glaze to light, the longer it will radiate afterwards.
[LIFETIME WARRANTY] - All Penguin Pottery products are backed by our Lifetime Warranty. See warranty & support section for more information. If you have any issues, we will give you a refund or replace your board - no questions asked!
Try decorating with lines of underglaze over our glow glaze to get a silhouette of glow through your design!
