[THE ORIGINAL CLAY WEDGING BOARD] - Penguin Pottery designed the original MDF wedging board back in 2020. Today, it is a must-have pottery tool in the pottery tools equipment and supplies world. Manufactured in the USA from water-resistant renewable wood sources using Medex MDF, the highest-quality board material widely used in the ceramics industry (we do not use less water-resistant Masonite board or fiberboard as other brands).

[EASY TO CARRY AND USE] - We designed our clay board with a built-in handle to make it super easy to carry. Unlike other brands, our board has rounded edges, including the handle! We care about your experience so we make our board easy on your hands. We also do not add a canvas found in canvas covered board for clay to prevent accumulation of dry clay dust, a common problem with other mud tools.

[DURABLE AND STRONG] - Our clay boards are made with 3/8" Medex MDF on purpose, because it's the perfect thickness for strength and durability, without making it too heavy to carry. It also prevents clay from sticking, and works better than pottery plaster, clay mat, and polymer clay mat. INSTALLATION - Works with all popular brands - Amaco, Shimpo, Speedball, Laguna, Skutt, Others.

PACKAGE - includes 2 pcs 1/4 inch x 1 inch bolts and wing nuts.

MATERIAL - Pottery bat pins are made with stainless steel standard thread.

Sodium silicate can be used in several ceramic applications: (a) it is used to prevent lumping when slip casting; (b) it can be used to create a crackled texture on ceramic surfaces; and (c) it also reduces viscosity and water needs in pottery and ceramics.

Using it as a Deffloculant: Penguin Pottery's Sodium Silicate Solution is used to deflocculate (ie. prevent lumping) casting slips. Our sodium silicate causes the particles of clay to repel one another and remain suspended. Please note that, over time, plaster will absorb the solution and will deteriorate / erode.

Using it to Achieve a Crackled Surface: If you want to achieve a super-interesting crackled clay surface, you can apply Penguin Pottery sodium silicate to your piece right after you finish throwing (before you fire it). Just apply with a brush, wait until it dries, and the place your hands inside the piece and expand the sides.

[EASY TO USE] - You can paint our glow in the dark glaze onto greenware, bisqueware or already-glazed finished work . This glaze should be fired to a fast cone 06. Any hotter and the glaze may lose its glow. Contents may settle at the bottom of the jar. Stir with every dip of your brush. The glow glaze doesn’t have a glossy smooth finish and that’s normal. For a glossy finish, cover it with our low fire clear glaze formulated (sold separately) and fire them together at cone 06.

[FIRE IN POTTERY KILN] - Pottery glaze must be fired in a pottery kiln. Do not fired in a kitchen oven. Ceramic glazes are classified according to a temperature range ("cone") in three general groups: "low-fire," "mid-fire," and "high-fire." Your ceramic kiln must be temperature calibrated to confirm it is firing at the target temperature / cone. Our glow glaze is nontoxic but has not been tested for food safety. We don’t recommend painting this glaze on surfaces that will have food on them.
