Our Top Picks for Breedlove Acoustic Guitars
The three standouts our editors recommend first — ranked by performance, value, and real-world reviews.
Adding value to your purchase, Austin Bazaar bundles your instrument with necessary accessories. Everything you need to start playing immediately comes in one box. Save yourself the hassle and save some money while you're at it. A gig bag is included so you can keep your instrument safely packed away when you're on the go. An easy-to-use clip-on tuner is included so you can keep your instrument in tune.
A strap is included so you can practice or better yet perform while standing up. Picks are included so you can start playing right out of the box. An instrument cable is included so you have an extra. An instructional book is included so you can practice better. An Austin Bazaar instructional DVD is included so you can pick up some tips while learning your new instrument.
Can a single box truly provide everything a budding musician needs to go from zero to stage-ready? The Fender CD-60SCE aims to answer that by pairing a high-quality dreadnought with a massive suite of essentials. The solid spruce top and scalloped X-bracing deliver a resonant, punchy tone that punches well above its weight class, while the mahogany back and sides add a warm, woody character. I was particularly impressed by the rolled fingerboard edges, which make the neck feel incredibly smooth and easy to navigate during long practice sessions. Since it features a Fishman Classic Design pickup, you can easily plug into an amp for live performances. Between the included tuner, strap, and instructional materials, this bundle removes all the friction of starting a new musical journey.
✅[Well Balanced Tone] Spruce Top and Mahogany side and back with a dreadnought body, the acoustic electric guitar produces richer, more balanced, and brighter sound than other sizes. The full size acoustic electric guitar improved X-bracing and thinner paints with better quality allowing the top to keep stable while vibrating and minimizing the loss of sound
✅[User-Friendly Design] The type C profile guitar neck with smooth fret ends allow you move between frets up and down rapidly without worrying about scratching or cutting fingers. The low string action design reduces the string pressure when playing the acoustic electric guitar, suitable for beginners to learning or practicing the guitar for a long time
✅[Fast Tuning and Stay in Tune] 18: 1 ratio gears guarantee more precise and accurate tuning than 15:1 ratio gears. The sealed nickel-plated tuning pegs feature anti-dust, durable and stable so that you can tune the electric acoustic guitar easily and hold in tune longer
✅[Ready for Stage] Vangoa acoustic-electric guitar features a built-in 4-Band EQ (Bass, Middle, Treble, and Presto) and volume control offering the option to plug into an acoustic amp, mixer, or PA system to meet your need of plugging in on stage for live performance or in the studio for recording
✅[Complete Equipment] The acoustic electric guitar bundle comes with all accessories you need to get started with, you have no need to get all of them separately elsewhere, including a padded gig bag with large storage room, a backup set of strings, a capo, three picks with different thickness, a self-adhesive pickguard, a polished cloth, a clip-on tuner, an adjustable shoulder strap, a cable for amplifier connecting, an allen key and an user manual
The Vangoa matte black dreadnought stands as a premier entry point for beginners and teens looking to transition from practice to the stage. By pairing a spruce top with mahogany sides, it delivers a much richer, more balanced tone than most budget-friendly instruments of this size. I was particularly impressed by the user-centric design. The C-type neck and smooth fret ends make rapid movement effortless, while the low string action prevents the finger fatigue that often discourages new players. It is a truly comprehensive kit, offering everything from a clip-on tuner to a padded gig bag, ensuring you aren't left hunting for cables or extra strings. Whether you are practicing in your bedroom or plugging into a PA system via the 4-band EQ, this bundle handles it all with professional ease.
✅[Convenient for Recording or Amplifying] It is a regular acoustic guitar when you play it without plugging in an amp. Thanks to its built-in 4-Band EQ (Bass, Middle, Treble, and Presto) and volume control, the electric acoustic guitar can plug into an acoustic amp, mixer, or PA system directly to meet your need of plugging in on stage for live performance or in the studio for recording
✅[Well Balanced Tone] Made from an upgraded X-bracing Spruce Top, Mahogany body and neck, the acoustic electric guitar produces a warm and clear tone with outstanding tone at high and mid-frequency. Bone nut and saddle not only transmit the resonance of the strings better, but also bear the tension of the strings and is not easy to deform. 41-inch full-size dreadnought body offers a richer and deeper sound than a smaller size. Suitable for all kinds of playing or music styles
✅[Built for Comfortable Touch] Low action design relieves the pain when pressing the strings. Smooth fret ends with wooden binding are stylish and avoid cutting fingers when moving up and down rapidly on the fretboard. Equipped with a built-in truss rod, the electric acoustic guitar neck can be adjusted to meet your needs of string height
✅[Accurate Tune-up] Heavy-duty nickel tuning pegs are harder and more superior in corrosion resistance. 1:18 ratio gears provide a finer adjustment and greater stability in tuning, which helps the guitar keep in tune longer after the tune-up of strings
✅[Complete Kit for Beginners] The acoustic electric guitar bundle comes with a complete kit you need to get started with, including a cable for connecting amplifier, a clip-on tuner, a capo, an adjustable strap for stand up playing, a set of extra strings, 3 picks with different thickness, a truss rod Allen key, a polish cloth, an optional pickguard, and a user manual. A decent gift for children, friends or family
The matte black finish catches the light with a sleek, understated elegance that makes this dreadnought look far more expensive than its price tag. Beyond the aesthetics, the upgraded X-bracing Spruce top and Mahogany body deliver a surprisingly warm, well-balanced tone that holds up whether you are playing unplugged or running through an amp. I was particularly impressed by the playability. The low action design and smooth fret ends make it much easier on the fingers for beginners. The built-in 4-band EQ gives you solid control over your sound for live sets, while the included bundle—featuring everything from a clip-on tuner to extra strings—means you can actually start playing the moment the box arrives.
Serious songwriters craving a distinct tonal personality need the Breedlove Oregon Concert CE in their arsenal immediately. This isn't your standard, cookie-cutter dreadnought. The combination of a Sitka Spruce top with Myrtlewood back and sides produces a sophisticated, nuanced voice that stands out in a crowded room. Playing through the LR Baggs Element electronics feels incredibly natural, making it a reliable companion for live performances where clarity is non-negotiable. The maple neck and ebony fingerboard provide a smooth, responsive feel under the fingers, while the concert body shape keeps it comfortable for long sessions. At this price point, you are investing in a professional-grade instrument that balances aesthetic elegance with a highly versatile acoustic-electric output.

Most people assume that entry-level instruments are just hollow wooden boxes with no personality, but the Asmuse Acoustic Electric Guitar challenges that notion with its surprisingly sophisticated tonal control. While the solid body and closed-pore construction provide a resonant, well-balanced foundation for acoustic practice, the real magic happens when you plug in. The built-in 4-band EQ allows you to fine-tune the bass, mid-range, treble, and presence, while the integrated overdrive/distortion gives you a level of sonic versatility usually reserved for much more expensive setups. It is a complete, ready-to-play package featuring a maple neck and nickel frets that makes the transition from novice to performer incredibly seamless and convenient.
Concert Body Shape: The Concert is the most popular body shape, favored by players because it is well-balanced, compact, comfortable to play, and offers all the qualities of a great-sounding guitar. It generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The Concert works well when played fingerstyle, as vocal accompaniment, or at a full strum
Myrtlewood Top, Back, and Sides: Popularized by Breedlove, myrtlewood, from the windblown Oregon coast, combines the best elements of rosewood, mahogany, and maple-rich bass, warm midrange, and clear, bright trebles for a truly versatile guitar. Each sonically distinct instrument is individualized by the gnarled, wildly varied, but always arresting grain patterns
Breedlove Pinless Bridge: Breedlove’s pinless Delta bridge is a distinctive element, alright, with a sleek, modern contour that adds an extra bit of unexpected beauty to every instrument, from Discovery to Legacy. But it also adds welcome functionality while anchoring great sound
Breedlove Neck: It features a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing
Versatile Play Style: The Breedlove Play Style system was created to help you, the player, select your sound and playing style. Finding the most appropriate guitar to fit your sound requires finding not only the correct body shape but the proper tonewood combinations to fit your style of play
The Geartree Breedlove Pursuit Exotic S is a visual and sonic masterpiece defined by its striking myrtlewood construction. This Concert body shape hits a sweet spot for versatility, offering a compact frame that feels comfortable whether you are fingerstyle playing or strumming full chords. The myrtlewood top, back, and sides deliver a sophisticated tonal profile, blending rosewood richness with maple clarity to avoid any boomy low end. I was particularly impressed by the slimmer neck profile and the hand-rubbed, semi-gloss finish, which makes navigating the fretboard feel effortless even during long sessions. Between the unique pinless Delta bridge and the distinct grain patterns, this instrument feels deeply individualized and ready for both stage and studio use.
The Sheeran By Lowden Equals Album Edition is a standout entry in the professional acoustic guitar market that successfully bridges the gap between celebrity signature models and high-end lutherie. This W-body instrument feels remarkably intentional, utilizing a premium pairing of a sitka spruce top with figured walnut back and sides to create a rich, resonant voice. Whether you are playing through the W or S body configurations, the tonal clarity remains consistent and sophisticated. It is rare to find a signature model that prioritizes tonal integrity over mere branding, but the craftsmanship here suggests a serious tool for performers. Including a padded gig bag makes this a complete package for the traveling musician who needs reliable tone without the fragility of a hard case.
A Guide to Selecting the Best Breedlove Acoustic Guitars
Understanding Body Shapes and Ergonomics
One of the most defining features of a Breedlove guitar is its diverse range of body shapes. While many brands stick to the standard dreadnought, Breedlove excels in creating shapes that cater to specific playing styles and physical comfort. If you are a fingerstyle player, you will likely gravitate toward their smaller, more intimate body styles. These designs offer a focused, balanced tone that doesn't overwhelm delicate melodies. Conversely, if you need volume and projection for strumming in a group setting, look for their larger-bodied models. Pay close attention to the 'concert' and 'Auditorium' style shapes. These provide a middle ground, offering enough resonance for rhythm while maintaining enough clarity for lead lines.
The Impact of Tonewood Selection
The soul of a Breedlove guitar lies in its tonewoods. When browsing the catalog, you will encounter different tiers of construction. Entry-level models often utilize laminate woods, which are incredibly durable and resistant to humidity changes—making them excellent for beginners or musicians who travel frequently. However, as you move up the hierarchy, you will find solid-top instruments. A solid spruce top, for instance, will provide a bright, crisp response that improves as the wood ages. For those seeking a warmer, more 'mellow' sound, look for models featuring mahogany or cedar tops. The combination of the top wood with the back and sides (such as rosewood for richness or mahogany for punch) will ultimately dictate the instrument's voice.
Construction Tiers: From Beginner to Professional
Breedlove categorizes its instruments into distinct series, and choosing the right one depends on your budget and long-term goals. The most affordable series are designed with durability in mind, perfect for those just learning the chords. As you move into the mid-range, you will notice a significant jump in craftsmanship, often featuring more intricate inlay work and better-quality hardware. The premium series are the pinnacle of the brand, often utilizing all-solid wood construction and high-grade bracing patterns. These guitars are not just instruments. They are heirlooms designed to develop a complex character over years of playing.
Key Decision Factors: Playability and Setup
Beyond the specs, how the guitar feels in your hands is paramount. Breedlove is known for relatively comfortable neck profiles, but you should always consider your hand size. A slimmer neck might feel natural for some, while others may prefer a slightly fuller feel for better control during complex chord transitions. Additionally, consider the electronics. If you plan to perform live or record in a studio, look for models equipped with onboard preamps and pickups. A high-quality integrated system will ensure that your acoustic tone translates faithfully through a sound system without sounding 'plastic' or thin.
Final Recommendation Logic
To make your final decision, follow this hierarchy: First, define your primary playing style (strumming vs. fingerstyle). This dictates your body shape. Second, establish your budget and decide if you need the stability of laminate or the tonal depth of solid wood. Third, if you are a performer, prioritize models with built-in electronics. By aligning these three factors, you will find a Breedlove that doesn't just look beautiful, but sounds like an extension of your own musical voice.

Quick answers about Breedlove Acoustic Guitars before you buy.
Breedlove is best known for its unique body shapes, such as the Concert and Grand Concert series, which are designed to offer a more intimate, comfortable playing experience and a focused tonal balance compared to traditional dreadnoughts.
Yes, their smaller-bodied models are particularly beginner-friendly because they are easier to hold and maneuver, while still providing a rich enough sound to encourage progression.
Solid top guitars use a single piece of real wood that vibrates more freely, improving tone and aging beautifully, whereas laminate models use layered wood for increased durability and a lower price point.
The Concert and Grand Concert shapes are ideal for fingerstyle players because their smaller resonance chambers provide clarity and separation between notes.
While their smaller bodies are more focused, their Dreadnought and Grand Dreadnought models provide the volume and bass response necessary for heavy strumming and ensemble playing.
High-end models featuring premium tonewoods and craftsmanship tend to hold their value well, though like all acoustic instruments, resale value depends heavily on how well the wood has been maintained.
Like all acoustic instruments, they require regular tuning, humidity control to prevent cracking, and occasional string changes to keep the tone bright and the action playable.
