Best Delong Lures in 2026

Most anglers assume that bigger lures mean more trouble with snags, but these 9-inch Delong Lures actually turn dense vegetation into an advantage. I was impressed by how the weedless design allows you to cast directly into thick cover without the constant frustration of untangling gear. The soft plastic has a lifelike movement that triggers aggressive strikes from bass and pike alike, making it feel much more natural in the water than stiffer alternatives. They are built tough enough to handle sharp teeth and heavy fights, which is vital when you're targeting trophy fish. Whether you are a seasoned pro or just starting out, these worms are incredibly easy to work. You simply cast, retrieve, and let the realistic presentation do the heavy lifting for you.

DeLong Lures delivers a masterclass in durable freshwater tackle with these pre-rigged twister tail worms that prioritize longevity over cheap soft plastics. What sets these apart is the internal construction. Instead of the flimsy threads found in most lures, these use 40 lb braided Kevlar line molded directly into the body to prevent the rig from falling apart mid-fight. The anise scent is heavily concentrated to ensure it lasts through multiple casts, which is a game-changer when targeting finicky smallmouth or largemouth bass. They are incredibly easy to deploy since you simply tie your line to the front eyelet and let the tail spin to displace water. After 75 years in the industry, this brand clearly understands how to build a weedless, high-action lure that actually survives a day on the water.

The Delong Lures Flying Witch is a premier choice for serious musky and pike anglers who demand lifelike movement. Handcrafted in America with a legacy dating back to 1946, these segmented lures utilize a three-dimensional structure to produce erratic, pronounced action that standard baits simply cannot replicate. I found that working them aggressively as a jerk bait before letting the line slack allows the bait to dive deep, creating a stunning tail-whip effect as it ascends. The FireTiger colorway is striking, and the built-in anise scent provides a significant edge when targeting aggressive predators. Whether you are chasing giant muskie in freshwater or cobia in saltwater, the slow-sinking design and high-quality plastic construction make this a durable, high-performance addition to any tackle box.

After weeks of use on various freshwater ponds and rivers, the durability of these Delong Lures really stands out compared to standard soft plastics. Unlike many competitors that feel like jelly, these hand-poured nymphs have a realistic, sturdy consistency that keeps fish biting longer. The pre-rigged design makes them incredibly easy to use. You just tie your line straight to the molded size 6 hook and let it sink. The anise scent is a clever addition that helps attract everything from largemouth bass to panfish. Because they mimic the natural slow-sinking movement of a real mayfly nymph so effectively, they have become a reliable staple in my tackle box for catching trout and crappie alike.

Most anglers spend a fortune on high-tech hardware, yet the simplest solution to a slow day is often a tiny, scented insect. The DeLong Dragonfly works because it mimics the exact movement and scent profile of real prey, making it a standout addition to any tackle box. I found that the floating wings allow for a versatile presentation. You can steadily reel it to keep it on the surface or give it sharp jerks to create a splashing effect that grabs a bass's attention. When you pause, the lure sinks slowly like a wounded bug, which is a game-changer for triggering strikes. It is rare to find a lure that offers this much versatility while maintaining the heritage of a brand that has been American-made since 1946.

Anglers tired of the hassle of keeping live bait fresh need to switch to these Delong Lures insect soft plastics immediately. These pre-rigged lures are a game-changer for anyone targeting panfish, bass, or trout because they mimic the natural movement and appearance of bugs struggling on the water's surface. Since the scent is mixed directly into the plastic, the attraction lasts significantly longer than standard lures, which is vital when you are working through a long day of casting. Being hand-poured in Akron, Ohio, these lures offer a level of American-made quality that is hard to find in modern tackle boxes. They are incredibly easy to use. Just tie them on and reel them in to simulate a natural meal, making them a perfect gift for any fisherman looking to improve their catch rate.

Struggling to trigger a strike when the ice is thick and the fish are lethargic is a frustration every winter angler knows too well. These Delong Lures ice eyes solve that problem by adding a realistic focal point to your existing setup. Instead of relying on a plain jig, you can attach these perch-mimicking eyes to any hook, cut bait, or jig to create a more convincing presentation. They are designed to work in tandem with your current gear to increase your odds across a massive spectrum of species, from bluegill and crappie to pike. Knowing they are made in America by a company that has been innovating soft plastics since 1946 gives you a level of confidence in their quality that cheap imports simply can't match.

After weeks of testing these in varied conditions, it is clear that the durability of the plastic is what sets the Squirm apart from cheaper competitors. Being hand-poured in America, the material holds up against aggressive strikes without falling apart mid-fight. I found the 1/3 ounce weight particularly helpful for long-distance casting and reaching deeper structures that lighter lures simply can't touch. The set comes with four essential colors—pumpkin seed, red bug, black/blue, and chartreuse pepper—each paired with a razor-sharp, weighted weedless hook. Whether you are trolling or using them as a jig, the heavy scent infusion provides a noticeable advantage in attracting fish across both freshwater and saltwater environments.

Delong Lures has revitalized the predator fishing category with the Kilr Eel, a specialized soft swimbait that delivers an unpredictable, high-action swimming motion. Unlike standard lures, this eel uses hard wings and fins to create an erratic darting pattern when worked with short, sharp jerks. It feels remarkably similar to a classic bass fluke but offers much more aggression for larger targets like muskie, pike, or even saltwater cobia. The heavy infusion of anise oil provides a time-tested scent advantage that has been a staple in the industry for decades. Because it is built with a stiff body and slightly offset hooks, it remains easy to control during intense retrieves. Whether you are chasing freshwater giants or saltwater predators, this American-made lure brings a proven, award-winning edge to your tackle box.

After weeks of use in varied freshwater and saltwater environments, the erratic movement of the Delong Lures KILR Eel has become a staple in my tackle box. Unlike standard soft plastics, this 8-inch bait features hard wings and fins that react to short, sharp jerks, darting unpredictably through the water to trigger predatory strikes. The heavy infusion of anise oil provides a historical edge that works exceptionally well for targeting massive species like muskie, pike, and cobia. It feels substantial in the hand, almost like a stiff bass fluke, but with a much more aggressive action. Whether you are chasing trophy pike in a lake or tarpon in salt water, the proven formula and award-winning design make this a highly effective tool for any serious angler.

Serious predator anglers hunting for trophy-sized muskie or pike need to ditch their standard lures for these Delong Lures sand eel swimbaits. What sets these apart is the combination of an artisan, hand-poured construction and a potent anise scent that actually gets the attention of aggressive fish. I found the three-dimensional structure creates a much more erratic, lifelike movement than your typical rubber bait, especially when worked hard as a jerk bait. Because they are slow-sinking and pre-rigged, you can focus on your casting technique rather than fiddling with gear. Whether you are targeting freshwater bass or saltwater cobia, the durability of the high-quality plastic ensures these lures stand up to multiple strikes without falling apart.

A heavy-duty utility sled doesn't actually need to be heavy to handle a massive load. The Shappell Jet breaks the mold by using rugged polyethylene that provides serious durability without becoming a burden to pull across the ice. I found the specially contoured hull particularly impressive because it doesn't just glide. It manages to navigate uneven terrain and snow with surprising ease. Whether you are hauling a heavy catch, stacking firewood, or transporting hunting gear, the molded runners ensure the sled doesn't drag awkwardly. It comes with a dedicated tow rope, making it simple to lug your supplies directly to your honey hole without breaking a sweat. This is a versatile workhorse that transitions seamlessly from ice fishing to backcountry utility tasks.

Struggling to trigger a strike from wary predator fish often comes down to how convincingly a lure mimics natural movement. The TRUSCEND segmented swimbaits tackle this by using a six-part multi-jointed body that allows for incredibly flexible, lifelike swimming actions as they sink slowly through the water. I found the 3D realistic eyes and pearl powder coating to be particularly effective at creating a high-simulation look that fools even the smartest bass or trout. The built-in rattle adds a crucial layer of vibration to provoke feeding urges, while the custom anti-rust treble hooks provide the piercing power needed for a solid hookset. Whether you are hitting freshwater lakes or saltwater environments, these ABS lures offer a versatile, high-vibration option for targeting species like pike, walleye, and muskie.

The textured scale pattern on the oversized bows immediately tells you these aren't your standard flimsy tackle box accessories. I found that the grip stays incredibly secure even when your hands are wet or slick from handling fish. These 5.5-inch shears are built for the heavy lifting, utilizing titanium-bonded stainless steel that feels significantly more robust than basic steel. The dual micro-serrated edges are the real star here, as they grab onto slippery braid, mono, and fluorocarbon without the line sliding out of the blades. At a sub- price point, they offer a level of corrosion resistance and cutting precision that makes them a reliable staple for both freshwater and saltwater expeditions.

You are standing on a sun-drenched pier, realizing you've forgotten the exact weight of split shot or the specific swivel needed for your next cast. This TOPFORT kit eliminates that mid-trip panic by packing a massive variety of essentials—from offset hooks and barrel swivels to sinker weights and fishing leaders—into one compact organizer. The stainless steel construction is a standout, providing the corrosion resistance necessary for saltwater environments without worrying about deformation. I particularly like how the translucent tackle box allows you to identify specific beads or snaps at a glance. At under nine ounces and small enough to slip into a vest pocket, it is a highly efficient way to ensure you are prepared for any fishing condition without carrying a heavy, disorganized gear bag.

Highly pressured fish often become too smart for standard lures, making it difficult to trigger a strike when the water gets tough. The Yum Lures Dinger solves this by utilizing a subtle, life-like action that mimics natural prey without looking suspicious. During my testing, the Green Pumpkin color worked seamlessly in various water clarity levels. One of the most practical design choices is the unique hook slot, which significantly improves hook-up ratios compared to traditional soft plastics. You also won't find yourself constantly replacing torn baits. These are notably tougher than similar options on the market. It is a reliable, American-made tool that brings a much-needed level of durability and finesse to your tackle box.

You’re working a heavy brush pile in murky water when a massive bass strikes, and instead of the bait tearing off, it stays pinned. That is the exact advantage the Yum Lures Dinger provides during high-pressure fishing sessions. The Ozark Smoke colorway offers a subtle, life-like action that mimics natural prey without looking over-the-top, which is critical when fish have seen every trick in the book. While many soft plastics feel flimsy after a single strike, this bait is noticeably tougher than its competitors, allowing you to fish it repeatedly without losing its shape. I was particularly impressed by the unique hook slot integrated into the design, which significantly improves hook-up ratios when you finally get that strike. The Pearl/Silver Flake finish provides a natural shimmer in the water, making it a versatile addition to any tackle box. Since it is made in the United States, you can trust the build quality of this 4-inch essential.

The two realistic pinchers add a level of lifelike movement that mimics natural prey perfectly during a retrieve. Getting a seven-pack for under seven dollars makes this an incredibly efficient way to stock up on a versatile soft plastic that performs consistently under pressure. It is a reliable, high-action tool for anyone looking to add more movement to their presentation.

Most anglers assume that a more aggressive vibration is the key to catching big fish, but the Yum Lures Dinger proves that subtlety often wins the day. I found that this soft plastic bait produces a remarkably lifelike action that feels natural in the water, making it a nightmare for even the most pressured fish to ignore. The Bumblebee Swirl pattern adds a visual pop without being distracting, and the material itself is surprisingly tough compared to other soft plastics I've tested. Bobby Garland’s Original Baby Shad lures are a cornerstone of any effective crappie fishing kit, offering a level of reliability that seasoned anglers demand. The Electric Chicken colorway provides a striking visual pop in the water, while the two-inch profile remains perfectly scaled for targeting crappie. You might wonder if a simple piece of plastic really deserves its legendary status, but the Yamamoto Senko is one of those rare items that actually lives up to the hype. As the original soft stickbait, it sets the standard that every other imitation tries to follow. What really sets this apart is the proprietary material formula that gives it a unique action in the water. I found that its versatility is its greatest strength. You can rig it wacky-style, use a Texas rig, or go with a shaky head without any hassle. Whether you are flipping a jig or fishing it weightless, this 5-inch bait provides a level of reliability that is hard to find elsewhere in your tackle box.

The heavy timber of a shallow cove is the perfect playground for the Z-MAN Original ChatterBait when you need to trigger a reaction strike. This lure is a true hybrid, blending the erratic flash of a spinnerbait with the aggressive vibration of a crankbait and the solid profile of a jig. I found that the exclusive hex-shaped ChatterBlade creates an incredible amount of thump in the water, while the heavy-duty 5/0 needle point hook provides much-needed confidence during a fight. Unlike other lures that hydroplane when you pick up the pace, this 3/8-ounce model stays stable even on a fast retrieve, allowing you to hunt the entire water column. You can easily swap out trailers like Turbo CrawZ or DieZel MinnowZ to fine-tune your presentation for different bass conditions.
