Most DIY lure makers assume that a high-quality pour inevitably comes with a nauseating chemical stench, but the 142 Soft Formula completely flips that expectation. Working with this premium plastisol from Polysol Polymers feels remarkably clean because of the low odor profile during the heating process. I was particularly impressed by the excellent clarity of the finished product, which makes adding glitters or pigments a breeze without worrying about cloudiness. You won't have to deal with the headache of scorching or the frustration of the material turning yellow over time. Even better, it resists the dreaded hard pack that often ruins batches of soft plastics, ensuring your material stays usable and consistent for every single pour.

Most DIY lure makers assume that high-performance plastisol has to smell like a chemical factory, but this 112 Super Soft Formula completely flips that expectation. Testing this material, the most striking thing isn't just the incredibly supple texture, but how clean the process feels. It maintains excellent clarity without the frustrating issues of yellowing or scorching during the heating phase. I also noticed a significant lack of that overwhelming, pungent odor common in lower-grade resins. A heavy-duty utility sled doesn't actually need to be heavy to handle a massive load. The Shappell Jet breaks the mold by using rugged polyethylene that provides serious durability without becoming a burden to pull across the ice. Whether you are hauling a heavy catch, stacking firewood, or transporting hunting gear, the molded runners ensure the sled doesn't drag awkwardly. It comes with a dedicated tow rope, making it simple to lug your supplies directly to your honey hole without breaking a sweat. This is a versatile workhorse that transitions seamlessly from ice fishing to backcountry utility tasks.

The 105mm body is perfectly balanced, allowing you to wind it through heavy cover or pull it straight through open water without losing that signature waking action. Even when I slowed my cadence, the enhanced surface area kept the commotion going. This collaboration between Catch Co and the legendary Mike Bucca delivers a lure that punches far above its weight class. The ABS injected plastic construction makes it incredibly durable for long-term use against aggressive fish, while the slow-sinking design ensures it stays in the strike zone longer. Because it suspends and transitions into a subtle roll at rest, it triggers predatory strikes that more static lures simply miss. The combination of the irresistible internal rattle and the classic Rapala movement makes this a highly effective tool for targeting active fish. At just under half an ounce, it balances weight and maneuverability perfectly for precise jerkbait techniques.

The Yamamoto Fat Ika solves the common frustration of losing precision during a jig or swim by blending a grub-style body with a functional tube-style skirt. I found that rigging this skirt-up on a Texas rig creates a unique backward falling action that is incredibly effective for targeting bed fish. As it sinks, the bait produces a natural side-to-side sashay that perfectly mimics the gills of a bluegill or the frantic movement of a crawdad. Whether you are flipping into heavy cover or pitching along the bottom, this 10-pack offers a high-performance tool that provides the bulk of a heavy bait with much more accurate movement.

By combining a grub-style body with a tube-style skirt, this lure solves the common problem of losing control during a swim or jig. When you rig it skirt-up on a Texas rig, you get a specialized backward falling action that mimics the frantic movement of fleeing crawdads or bluegill gills. Berkley PowerBait Power Worms redefine scent dispersion with a specialized floating formula that draws fish in from much further distances. I was particularly impressed by how the maximum size floating design creates a more natural presentation in the water compared to traditional sinking baits. The garlic scent is incredibly potent and, interestingly, outlasts real salmon eggs in terms of effectiveness. Because these worms float, they stay suspended in the water column rather than getting lost in the silt on the bottom. This Green Pumpkin and Chartreuse combo provides a high-visibility profile that works hard for its price point. If you are looking for a reliable, long-lasting bait that actively works to attract fish through scent, these are a solid addition to your tackle box.
