Best Delong Lures Fishing Soft Plastic Lures in 2026

Most anglers assume that bigger lures mean more trouble with snags, but these 9-inch Delong Lures actually turn dense vegetation into an advantage. I was impressed by how the weedless design allows you to cast directly into thick cover without the constant frustration of untangling gear. The soft plastic has a lifelike movement that triggers aggressive strikes from bass and pike alike, making it feel much more natural in the water than stiffer alternatives. They are built tough enough to handle sharp teeth and heavy fights, which is vital when you're targeting trophy fish. Whether you are a seasoned pro or just starting out, these worms are incredibly easy to work. You simply cast, retrieve, and let the realistic presentation do the heavy lifting for you.

DeLong Lures delivers a masterclass in durable freshwater tackle with these pre-rigged twister tail worms that prioritize longevity over cheap soft plastics. What sets these apart is the internal construction. Instead of the flimsy threads found in most lures, these use 40 lb braided Kevlar line molded directly into the body to prevent the rig from falling apart mid-fight. The anise scent is heavily concentrated to ensure it lasts through multiple casts, which is a game-changer when targeting finicky smallmouth or largemouth bass. They are incredibly easy to deploy since you simply tie your line to the front eyelet and let the tail spin to displace water. After 75 years in the industry, this brand clearly understands how to build a weedless, high-action lure that actually survives a day on the water.

The Delong Lures Flying Witch is a premier choice for serious musky and pike anglers who demand lifelike movement. Handcrafted in America with a legacy dating back to 1946, these segmented lures utilize a three-dimensional structure to produce erratic, pronounced action that standard baits simply cannot replicate. I found that working them aggressively as a jerk bait before letting the line slack allows the bait to dive deep, creating a stunning tail-whip effect as it ascends. The FireTiger colorway is striking, and the built-in anise scent provides a significant edge when targeting aggressive predators. Whether you are chasing giant muskie in freshwater or cobia in saltwater, the slow-sinking design and high-quality plastic construction make this a durable, high-performance addition to any tackle box.

After weeks of use on various freshwater ponds and rivers, the durability of these Delong Lures really stands out compared to standard soft plastics. Unlike many competitors that feel like jelly, these hand-poured nymphs have a realistic, sturdy consistency that keeps fish biting longer. The pre-rigged design makes them incredibly easy to use. You just tie your line straight to the molded size 6 hook and let it sink. The anise scent is a clever addition that helps attract everything from largemouth bass to panfish. Because they mimic the natural slow-sinking movement of a real mayfly nymph so effectively, they have become a reliable staple in my tackle box for catching trout and crappie alike.

Most anglers spend a fortune on high-tech hardware, yet the simplest solution to a slow day is often a tiny, scented insect. The DeLong Dragonfly works because it mimics the exact movement and scent profile of real prey, making it a standout addition to any tackle box. I found that the floating wings allow for a versatile presentation. You can steadily reel it to keep it on the surface or give it sharp jerks to create a splashing effect that grabs a bass's attention. When you pause, the lure sinks slowly like a wounded bug, which is a game-changer for triggering strikes. It is rare to find a lure that offers this much versatility while maintaining the heritage of a brand that has been American-made since 1946.

Anglers tired of the hassle of keeping live bait fresh need to switch to these Delong Lures insect soft plastics immediately. These pre-rigged lures are a game-changer for anyone targeting panfish, bass, or trout because they mimic the natural movement and appearance of bugs struggling on the water's surface. Since the scent is mixed directly into the plastic, the attraction lasts significantly longer than standard lures, which is vital when you are working through a long day of casting. Being hand-poured in Akron, Ohio, these lures offer a level of American-made quality that is hard to find in modern tackle boxes. They are incredibly easy to use. Just tie them on and reel them in to simulate a natural meal, making them a perfect gift for any fisherman looking to improve their catch rate.

DeLong Lures' KILR worms are a legendary staple in the soft plastic fishing category that deliver a serious advantage through historical design and modern durability. These aren't your standard mass-produced plastics. They are hand-poured in America using a heavy-duty material that stands up to much more abuse and casting than cheaper alternatives. The standout feature is the pre-rigged design, featuring three hand-tied internal hooks that significantly boost your hookset success rate whether you are targeting bass, pike, or walleye. I was particularly impressed by the scent profile, as the added anise oil provides a distinct olfactory edge underwater. It is a versatile, high-performance kit that feels like a piece of fishing history in your tackle box.

Struggling to trigger a strike when the ice is thick and the fish are lethargic is a frustration every winter angler knows too well. These Delong Lures ice eyes solve that problem by adding a realistic focal point to your existing setup. Instead of relying on a plain jig, you can attach these perch-mimicking eyes to any hook, cut bait, or jig to create a more convincing presentation. They are designed to work in tandem with your current gear to increase your odds across a massive spectrum of species, from bluegill and crappie to pike. Knowing they are made in America by a company that has been innovating soft plastics since 1946 gives you a level of confidence in their quality that cheap imports simply can't match.

After weeks of testing these in varied conditions, it is clear that the durability of the plastic is what sets the Squirm apart from cheaper competitors. Being hand-poured in America, the material holds up against aggressive strikes without falling apart mid-fight. I found the 1/3 ounce weight particularly helpful for long-distance casting and reaching deeper structures that lighter lures simply can't touch. The set comes with four essential colors—pumpkin seed, red bug, black/blue, and chartreuse pepper—each paired with a razor-sharp, weighted weedless hook. Whether you are trolling or using them as a jig, the heavy scent infusion provides a noticeable advantage in attracting fish across both freshwater and saltwater environments.

Delong Lures has revitalized the predator fishing category with the Kilr Eel, a specialized soft swimbait that delivers an unpredictable, high-action swimming motion. Unlike standard lures, this eel uses hard wings and fins to create an erratic darting pattern when worked with short, sharp jerks. It feels remarkably similar to a classic bass fluke but offers much more aggression for larger targets like muskie, pike, or even saltwater cobia. The heavy infusion of anise oil provides a time-tested scent advantage that has been a staple in the industry for decades. Because it is built with a stiff body and slightly offset hooks, it remains easy to control during intense retrieves. Whether you are chasing freshwater giants or saltwater predators, this American-made lure brings a proven, award-winning edge to your tackle box.

After weeks of use in varied freshwater and saltwater environments, the erratic movement of the Delong Lures KILR Eel has become a staple in my tackle box. Unlike standard soft plastics, this 8-inch bait features hard wings and fins that react to short, sharp jerks, darting unpredictably through the water to trigger predatory strikes. The heavy infusion of anise oil provides a historical edge that works exceptionally well for targeting massive species like muskie, pike, and cobia. It feels substantial in the hand, almost like a stiff bass fluke, but with a much more aggressive action. Whether you are chasing trophy pike in a lake or tarpon in salt water, the proven formula and award-winning design make this a highly effective tool for any serious angler.

Serious predator anglers hunting for trophy-sized muskie or pike need to ditch their standard lures for these Delong Lures sand eel swimbaits. What sets these apart is the combination of an artisan, hand-poured construction and a potent anise scent that actually gets the attention of aggressive fish. I found the three-dimensional structure creates a much more erratic, lifelike movement than your typical rubber bait, especially when worked hard as a jerk bait. Because they are slow-sinking and pre-rigged, you can focus on your casting technique rather than fiddling with gear. Whether you are targeting freshwater bass or saltwater cobia, the durability of the high-quality plastic ensures these lures stand up to multiple strikes without falling apart.
