Best True North Baits in 2026

You are hovering over a hole in the ice when a sudden, aggressive strike snaps your line taut, thanks to a tiny profile that looks exactly like a real snack. The True North Baits Jr. Goby is a masterclass in biological mimicry, specifically designed to capitalize on the massive surge of invasive goby populations that have become a primary food source for predatory fish. At just two inches long, these lures are sized perfectly for a quick, easy scoop by panfish, perch, or even larger lake trout. The plastic is incredibly soft and comes infused with scent, which helps trigger those instinctual strikes even in murky water. Whether you are targeting crappie or whitefish, having an eight-pack of these highly realistic, scent-driven baits in your tackle box is a total game-changer for any serious angler.

You are staring at a frozen lake through an ice auger hole, wondering which tiny lure will finally trigger a strike from the hungry perch below. The True North Baits Panfish Pack eliminates that guesswork by providing a massive 40-piece variety of micro plastics specifically designed for those high-pressure scenarios. Ranging from 1 to 2 inches, this kit includes a curated selection of their most popular worms and soft plastics to ensure you have the right profile for every crappie or perch encounter. Knowing these baits are handmade in Ontario adds a layer of confidence in their quality and local craftsmanship. It is an incredibly efficient way to stock your tackle box with a diverse range of high-performing lures.

Ever wondered why trophy perch seem to ignore your standard tackle only to strike at the smallest morsels on the lake floor? The True North Baits M'eh Fly was engineered to solve that exact mystery by replicating the specific burrowing mayfly nymphs that jumbo fish target. After testing these in real-world conditions, the standout factor is the super soft plastic texture combined with a built-in scent infusion that keeps fish interested. At two inches long, the Goby Bling colorway provides just enough visual trigger to mimic natural prey. It is clear these weren't designed in a lab, but rather born from observing what fish are actually spitting out on the water. Whether you are hunting crappie or bluegill, this custom lure brings a level of biological accuracy that generic worms simply cannot match.

True North Baits has established a new benchmark for finesse anglers targeting largemouth and smallmouth bass. These 3/8 oz mini tube heads are a massive upgrade over standard options because they utilize premium Gamakatsu hooks as their foundation. The handmade construction in Ontario ensures a level of quality you rarely find in mass-produced tackle. I was particularly impressed by the 60-degree hook eye angle. It keeps the head facing upward, which is a game-changer for reducing snags while simultaneously improving your hook-up ratio. They fit 2 to 2.75-inch finesse tubes like a glove, making them an essential component for anyone fishing the Great Lakes or similar environments where precision matters. The short shank design is a subtle but brilliant touch that helps secure more fish during the final landing phase.

Size is often a deceptive metric in panfish fishing, but the True North Baits 'Lil Squirt proves that a small profile can pack a massive punch. While most micro-lures feel flimsy, these 1.8-inch maggots feature a surprisingly beefy, 'dad-bod' core that provides enough substance to trigger aggressive strikes from perch, crappie, and bluegill. I was particularly impressed by the super soft plastic texture, which moves naturally in the water, and the built-in scent infusion that helps keep fish locked in. It is essentially a high-protein snack that mimics a wax worm with uncanny accuracy. Whether you are targeting juvenile gobies or looking for a reliable insect mimic, these little guys punch well above their weight class.

True North Baits Hellion lures offer a specialized insect profile that puts standard, generic soft plastics to shame. While most anglers settle for stiff, scentless worms that fish quickly ignore, these 3.3-inch hellgrammite imitations utilize a custom, super-soft plastic blend that provides a lifelike action in the water. The scent infusion is a game-changer for attracting finicky bass, trout, or pike that are looking for something more substantial than a basic grub. I found that the appendage-filled design works exceptionally well when rigged on a Ned rig or a dropshot setup, creating enough movement to trigger aggressive strikes. If you want to move away from predictable lures and start causing a real stir on the water, these little beauties are worth the investment.

The incredibly soft texture of the True North Baits M'eh Fly is the first thing you notice when pulling a pack from your tackle box. These aren't your standard, stiff rubber worms. They are custom-designed to mimic the exact burrowing mayfly nymphs that trophy perch hunt on the lake bottom. Because they are scent-infused and crafted from a super soft plastic, they provide a natural presentation that is difficult for panfish like crappie and bluegill to resist. It is clear these were developed through real on-the-water experience, specifically modeled after the actual forage being spat out by jumbo perch. At two inches long, they strike that perfect balance for targeting species that want a high-protein snack without being overly bulky.

The 105mm body is perfectly balanced, allowing you to wind it through heavy cover or pull it straight through open water without losing that signature waking action. Even when I slowed my cadence, the enhanced surface area kept the commotion going.
