Best Walleye Fishing Soft Plastic Lures in 2026

Most anglers assume that catching saltwater species requires complex, expensive setups, but a simple four-inch soft plastic can often outperform much higher-tech gear. The Bass Assassin Sea Shad in the Chicken on a Chain colorway is a testament to that simplicity. During testing, this bait proved remarkably versatile across different environments, making it a staple for inshore sessions. Whether you are targeting Redfish, Speckled Trout, or Snook, the action is incredibly natural. It even manages to draw interest from bottom-dwellers like Flounder and Grouper, which is rare for a single profile. Since these are made in the United States, you can trust the consistency of the material. At just under six dollars for a ten-pack, it is an essential, low-cost addition to any saltwater tackle box.

After weeks of use in various freshwater environments, the YONGZHI lure set has proven to be a versatile staple for my tackle box. The tapered, ribbed body design is the standout feature here, as it distorts naturally in the water to create a realistic swimming action that works at almost any retrieval speed. I found the five color options incredibly helpful for switching between clear and murky water conditions. Whether I was skipping these under docks or fishing deep through heavy grass, the weighted hooks provided the necessary stability. It is a particularly thoughtful kit for new anglers because it arrives organized in a dedicated plastic box, making it easy to toss into a pack and head straight to the water.

Berkley has managed to replicate the texture and movement of a real nightcrawler so closely that it’s hard to tell the difference once they are submerged. I found these particularly effective when trolling on spinner rigs, where the constant motion combined with the exclusive walleye-specific scent formula creates an irresistible attraction. It’s a massive relief for anglers who want the effectiveness of live bait without the mess or the hassle of keeping a container of actual worms alive on the boat. For under six dollars, you're getting a reliable, scent-enhanced tool that mimics nature perfectly.
